Why I'm Deciding To Work More With Smaller Brands

Hey Y'all!

I wanted to pop in here and talk about something I have been working on for the past few months. As a blogger/influencer, a lot of us only want to work with well known and major brands. Working with these brands can give us more publicity and when other brands see who you have worked with, it sometimes provides an urgency for them to want to work with you as well. I’m not saying this as a bad thing, because I do it. It's something about a bigger brand reaching out to you asking to partner on a campaign or you pitching brands and them being interested in working with you. Not to mention agreeing to your terms!

Back in February, I began sourcing new businesses (retail, skin care, etc.) to see what products they sold as well as what the brand stood for (because that’s important!). I began pitching some of them and noow I have partnered with a few that I am very excited about, not because they are new partnerships, but because I am able to put my marketing and e-commerce experience to full use. As a blogger, you are the marketing and advertising department for these brands. When building a relationship with them, you have the ability to really help them and really test your creativity. For me, that's something I want to do more of.

Our economy and plenty people are going through a difficult time, but it has been proven that a lot of successful businesses are born in times like these. So why not help them out? Doing this also helps you build and strengthen your own brand/business. As a blogger/influencer, you can help a small brand get on their feet by getting them in front of more consumers (that’s what we do all the time when we post about products we use anyway). But let’s keep it real, not every campaign we do is paid! Don’t get me wrong, I love a paid partnership, but if you can find a way to help some of the newer businesses during these uncertain times, that would be amazing too! At the end of the day this is business, so building and nurturing these partnerships whether big or small can benefit you down the road. Do I plan on continuing to work with larger businesses, 100%, but right now I am going to focus more on the smaller ones.

My whole point in saying this is that if you are wanting to be more creative and have more of a say in what campaigns you are doing, then try out some of the smaller or newer businesses. I say this because a lot of them are looking for help and are more open to what you want to do and how you want to do it.

Anyway, I hope you all are having a great week, and maybe consider doing this too!

See you next week, Paige !
