Are Makeup Remover Wipes Really Good For Us?

I have been wanting to talk about this for a while, but I always put it off. I used to use makeup remover wipes a few years ago and for me they counteract with my skin. I always wondered why, then I began researching more about them. Essentially, you’re rubbing whatever chemicals from the wipes onto your face "hoping" to remove your makeup. A lot of times it left my face red and inflamed, not to mention, I still had some makeup on my face! So essentially, you’re creating a product build-up and possibly irritating your skin.

I didn’t know that rubbing your face like that can cause excess pigmentation. But I will admit that makeup remover wipes are convenient when you travel. You just toss a pack of wipes in your suitcase and keep it moving. I will say that if you plan to continue using them, make sure you look at the ingredients as a good majority of them contain alcohol which essentially dries out your skin amongst other chemicals. Also rinse your face thoroughly after using them so you can completely wash away the ingredients of the wipes.

I suggest trying an alternative balm or gel. My go to is Clinique Take The Day Off Balm. After I use it, my face is clean without actually cleansing it. So if it's mid day and I just want to remove my makeup without having to do my whole skin care routine that's what I'm using until I wash my face before I lay down. I have been experimenting with vegan products and one I like is the Tarte Cosmetics Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. It removes your makeup without stripping your skin of natural oils. My skin is soft and hydrated after I use it. (Both can be purchased at Sephora and Ulta Beauty!)

If you try these out let me know your thoughts, or how you currently remove your makeup. Also if you use any other methods or products to remove your makeup, let me know in the comments below.
